'Declining Conditions' Prompt Apple To Permanently Close Store
Apple will permanently close its location at the Towson Town Center this summer, the tech giant announced.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Tech giant Apple is packing up and getting ready to say so long to the Towson Town Center.
The company announced this week that it would be closing its location at the mall due to the "departure of several retailers and declining conditions."
Residents can visit the store until June 11, the final day of operation for the Apple Towson Town Center at 825 Dulaney Valley Road.

Apple explained in a statement that Towson employees would be able to apply for new positions within the company "in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement."
The Towson location was the first U.S.-based Apple store to form a union. In 2022, employees joined the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union's Coalition of Organized Retail Employees.

On Friday, the union released a statement saying it was "outraged" that Apple would "abandon both its workers and a community that relies on it for critical services and its unique access to public transit."
"Apple’s claim that the collective bargaining agreement prevents relocation is simply false and raises serious concerns that this closure is a cynical attempt to bust the union," reads the statement.
"We are exploring all legal options and will work with elected officials and allies to hold Apple accountable. We stand with our IAM Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (IAM CORE) members and the community that depends on this store for essential access and support."
The Towson closure also comes with the shuttering of Apple North County in California and Apple Trumbull in Connecticut.
