Driver Killed, 2 Injured In Oakleigh Road Crash: Police

Police said a driver died after he rear-ended a vehicle, sparking additional crashes that injured two others.

PARKVILLE, MD — Police said a driver died after he crashed into a parked car less than 0.3 mile from his home Sunday evening in Parkville, causing two additional crashes.

Curtis Terrell Cooper, 39, of the 8600 block of Oakleigh Road, was pronounced deceased at the scene, officials said.

According to investigators, Cooper rear-ended a van with his 2006 Scion xA around 5:30 p.m. as he was driving south on Oakleigh Road near Putty Hill Avenue. The van was pushed into the back of a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, officials reported.

Cooper's car continued into oncoming traffic and hit the front of a 2010 Ford Fusion headed north on Oakleigh Road, police said.

The Fusion's driver and passenger were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries that authorities believe were not life-threatening.

Investigators said Tuesday morning they were still looking into the cause of the crash.
