Police Identify Two Victims in Fatal Dump Truck Crash

Baltimore County police named 20-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger killed in Monday night Hunt Valley collision.

Authorities identified the two victims in a fatal crash Monday night in Hunt Valley as two Baltimore County residents.

Charles William Matthews, 20, of the 400 block of Shirley Manor Road in Reisterstown, was driving the 1998 Acura CL south on McCormick Road when it collided with a dump truck, the Baltimore County Police Department reported.

The Acura crossed the center line south of Wight Avenue and hit a 2001 Western Star dump truck head-on, according to police. The dump truck had been headed north on McCormick Road approaching Wight Avenue, police said.

First responders were dispatched to the 11000 block of McCormick Road in Hunt Valley for a crash at approximately 9:40 p.m. on Monday, the report said.

Matthews and his passenger—Hannah Paige Potis, 19, of the unit block of Blondell Court in Timonium—were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured, according to police.

McCormick Road was shut down between Beaver Dam and Road and Wight Avenue for several hours, police said.
