Fatal Wrong-Way Crash Was Suspected DUI: Police

A fatal wrong-way crash in Pikesville claimed a Hyattsville victim, police said. Troopers think alcohol was involved.

PIKESVILLE, MD — Police think a fatal wrong-way crash on the Baltimore Beltway involved an impaired driver on Thursday.

Troopers identified the deceased victim as John Quame De Love, 64, of Hyattsville.

Authorities think Nottingham man Liluram Paudel, 34, was impaired by alcohol before striking De Love's car just before 2:40 a.m.

Paudel and his adult male passenger were both taken to Baltimore's Sinai Hospital by ambulance, police said.

Troopers said Paudel was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla sedan east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 695 at Stevenson Road.

Authorities said the Toyota crashed head-on into the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu sedan driven by De Love.

Medics pronounced De Love dead on the scene, police said, noting that he was the only occupant of the car.

Charges are pending investigation and consultation with the Baltimore County State's Attorney, troopers said.
