Fire Closes I-83 At I-695 Wednesday Night

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Interstate 83 was shut down near the I-695 interchange Wednesday night for approximately one hour. The closure was due to a vehicle fire, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Before 8:30 p.m., the vehicle fire broke out on I-83 near I-695 west, officials reported.

"Expect significant delays," the State Highway Administration advised in a statement before 9 p.m. Detours were in place during the emergency response.

By 9:45 p.m., authorities said that the incident had cleared.
