Goats Return To Towson University

A four-legged work crew reported for duty this week in Towson.

TOWSON, MD - The goats are back at Towson University. The four-legged mowers have been helping to keep invasive vegetation in line since 2004.

"The kids are back in town," Towson University officials announced.

They will be on campus tending to the Glen Arboretum at Towson University from Monday, Sept. 18 to Thursday, Sept. 21.

The goats come from Harmony Church Farm, according to WJZ, which reports they help get to hard-to-reach vegetation.

After arriving at 9 a.m. each day, the goats will work during the daylight hours in a fenced-in area and leave each night, the Towson Flier reported.

Towson University is not alone in its use of goats for landscaping duties. Two years ago, goats from the same farm, which is located in Darlington in Harford County, helped clear invasive species from land in east Towson for a pocket park off Pennylsvania Avenue.
