Goucher College Goes Smoke-Free
All smoking devices and forms of tobacco are no longer allowed on the Goucher College campus, including e-cigarettes.

TOWSON, MD — Goucher College has officially gone smoke-free. The liberal arts college made the announcement on Monday, July 16.
Smoking any substance is prohibited on campus, and so are e-cigarettes and any form of tobacco, according to the new policy.
"Effective today, July 16, 2018, Goucher has transitioned to a smoke-free campus, joining thousands of other colleges and universities in taking this major step in addressing the health and environmental concerns related to smoking and other tobacco use," the college said in a statement.

Tobacco-related advertising is prohibited on campus as well.

Here is an excerpt from Goucher's new tobacco-free policy:
"The Goucher College campus shall be entirely tobacco-free. The Tobacco-Free Policy applies to all Goucher facilities, property, and vehicles, owned or leased, regardless of location. Smoking and the use of tobacco products shall not be permitted in any buildings or outdoor areas on any Goucher campus property, including, but not limited to, parking lots, paths, fields, sports/recreational areas, and wooded areas, as well as in all personal vehicles while on campus. This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and other persons on campus, regardless of the purpose for their visit."
Anyone who violates the policy will receive a warning on the first offense, a $25 fine for the second offense and a $50 fine for a third violation as well as referral to student conduct, human resources or the provost for additional disciplinary action
The new policy is designed to improve the health and well-being of the Goucher community.
