Gunman In Towson Shooting Arrested Out Of State: Police

Police said the shooting victim was in stable condition.

On Friday, March 18, detectives with the Baltimore County Police Department and members of the U.S. Marshals arrested 22-year-old Luel F. Mekonnen of Silver Spring, MD in the shooting that occurred last week in the 1300 block of Colbury Rd. Mekonnen was apprehended in New Jersey Friday evening. Mekonnen has been charged as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition.

On March 17, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Baltimore County officers responded to a local hospital for reports of a subject who was brought to the location suffering from a gunshot wound. Once on scene, officers determined the male victim was shot in the 1300 block of Colbury Rd. and later taken to a local hospital. The victim is in stable condition.

This case remains under investigation by detectives with the Baltimore County Violent Crimes Unit.
