Heat Advisory in Baltimore Area Friday

A heat advisory is in effect for portions of the Baltimore area Thursday as temperatures climb to dangerous levels — and stay there.

The heat advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, is expected to reach around 100 degrees.

There’s a risk for heat-related illness for those without air conditioning or those outdoors for extended periods of time.

Those in the area are encouraged to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.

• Reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or the evening.
• Know the signs or symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
• Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible.
• Drink plenty of water.
