I-695 Inner Loop Reopens After Overnight Closure At Loch Raven

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A stretch of the inner loop of Interstate 695 was closed overnight near Loch Raven Boulevard. The closure allowed crews to recover an oversized wide load from the right shoulder, officials said.

By 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, I-695 had reopened, according to Maryland State Police.

Various closures had been in effect since a wide load tractor-trailer became disabled in the area of I-695 at Loch Raven Boulevard late Thursday night. Access from Loch Raven Boulevard to the inner loop was closed, officials said Saturday morning, directing drivers to use the Cromwell Bridge interchange instead.

All lanes were closed on the inner loop of I-695 between Loch Raven Boulevard and Perring Parkway from Saturday night to Sunday morning.

Effective from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday, the State Highway Administration said this detour will be in effect:

• Inner loop of I-695 onto Loch Raven Boulevard/MD 542
• Left onto Joppa Road
• Right onto southbound MD 41/Perring Parkway
• From Perring Parkway onto the inner loop I-695

Message boards were posted to notify motorists of the pending closure on I-695, police said, and extra law enforcement was on hand overnight to ensure that traffic moves smoothly.

During the closure period — from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday — drivers were encouraged to be extra careful, and check for the latest information about hazards, crashes, delays and closures on the State Highway Administration's website at www.md511.org or by calling 511.

Police advised drivers to give themselves extra time Saturday night and Sunday if their route included this area, where cranes were lifting and removing equipment from the right shoulder.
