Kenilworth Wine and Spirits to Join Shops at Kenilworth

TOWSON, MD – A new liquor store is coming to The Shops at Kenilworth.

Kenilworth Wine & Spirits has signed a lease for nearly 5,000 square feet at the shopping center on Kenilworth Drive.

It will open in fall 2016 on the second level, according to the shopping center's manager Greenberg Gibbons.

Kenilworth Wine & Spirits will feature a range of offerings, from seasonal microbrews, on-draft beer for growlers, local spirits, international distillers and a broad range of handpicked wines with suggested pairings and tasting notes. More than 100 of its wines will be sold for less than $15, Greenberg Gibbons reported.

Once open this fall, Kenilworth Wine & Spirits plans to offer weekly tastings in its 4,951-square-foot space.

The liquor store will be located across from Trader Joe's, which is opening up shop in the center in spring 2017.

Both are signing on as tenants during a time when the shopping center is undergoing a $20 million renovation project to refresh its image and improve the flow of foot traffic.

Renovations began in summer 2015 and are anticipated to be complete by spring 2017.

Touches like grand entrances and a rooftop garden will ”add a fresh look and new energy” to the shopping center that was built in 1979, according to Greenberg Gibbons.

The outside and inside of the shopping center are transforming to create a more contemporary space for its specialty shops.

“We think Kenilworth Wine & Spirits will bring a new, fun experience to the neighborhood,” Brian Gibbons, chairman and CEO of Greenberg Gibbons, said in a statement. “The store will be a great fit for the outstanding mix of specialty retailers and restaurants at The Shops at Kenilworth.”

Other tenants at The Shops at Kenilworth include Atwater's, About Faces, Italian Gardens Restaurant, Jos. A. Bank, Pendleton, South Moon Under, Stebbins Anderson, Towson Bootery and more.
