Horse racing books are available just in time for the race.

Everybody has their own way of getting ready for Baltimore's favorite horse race. Some people buy fancy hats. Some people place bets. Some people just visit the corner bar. To each their own.

When we were at the this morning, we saw they had some horse racing books on display. These books tell the stories of horses old (Lawrence Scanlan's The Horse God Built, about the legendary Secretariat) and new (Smarty Jones: America's Horse), and there are more general books, such as The Complete Encyclopedia of Horse Racing.

The 136th Preakness Stakes is May 21, so you have plenty of time to read a few of these selections. Be careful about reading them out loud for too long, though—you might get horse. Thank you, I'm here all week.
