Open Door Care, a before and after school care program serving Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Harford Counties is currently sponsoring several summer camps across the area. As part of the Academic Enrichment component, Camelot Learning, the children recently studied African Culture, learning about the administrative capital of South Africa, Pretoria, and specifically, Nelson Mandela.
Through the “World of Good Club”, which also correlates with the theme of the week, children learn to show compassion and help others. Last week, the children made get well cards and letters for the ailing Former President Nelson Mandela, which will be internationally mailed to his public address.
Camelot Learning activities are aligned to the National Content Standards for Education. Over the course of the summer, students lose 1-3 months of learning. Camelot Learning at Open Door combats that loss, with hands on learning experiences. For more information about Open Door Care, visit www.OpenDoorCare.com.
