Some boat ramps opened Wednesday at Liberty, Baltimore Public Works officials announced.

Loch Raven Reservoir will open for boaters on schedule—April 3—according to Baltimore Public Works officials.
It will remain open until the last Sunday in November, with a modified schedule after Labor Day, officials reported.
Boat ramps at Liberty Reservoir are now open, the Baltimore Department of Public Works announced Wednesday.

Usually boating season starts March 1 at Liberty but it was delayed this year due to ice, which public works officials said is still a concern.
“...ice remains in some Liberty Reservoir coves,” according to the announcement, so boaters should be careful.

Prettyboy Reservoir remains closed because “large sections of the reservoir [are] still covered with ice,” the announcement said.
The department credited higher temperatures in recent weeks with melting the ice at Liberty.
Boating at all three reservoirs requires a valid boating permit. For more information on boating permits, contact the Department of Natural Resources at 410-795-6150. Also, check out regulations online.
