Man Charged in BB Gun Shooting at Dulaney High School: Police

Two runners were shot with a BB rifle Friday afternoon, according to police, who said suspect was shooting from apartment window.

After two students were hit by BB pellets while running around the Dulaney High School football field Friday afternoon, a man has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment, police reported.

Authorities said that Christopher A. Swayer-Schweigman, 25, allegedly shot a BB rifle from the window of his upper floor apartment in the unit block of Breezy Tree Court.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Friday, police responded to a reported shooting at the football field behind the high school in the 200 block of East Padonia Road, where two students running cross-country were hit by BB pellets, according to a statement from the Baltimore County Police Department.

The students, a male and female sophomore, suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment by Baltimore County emergency medical providers, according to the statement. The students were released to the custody of their parents, who later took them to a local hospital for treatment, the statement said.

Investigators identified Swayer-Schweigman as the suspect and obtained a search and seizure warrant for his apartment, where police said they recovered a BB rifle.

Police said that Swayer-Schweigman was taken into custody by 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.

He has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment and is scheduled to appear for a hearing Oct. 2 in Baltimore County District Court.

Swayer-Schweigman was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $100,000 bail, according to police.
