Marks Starts Task Force for Towson Triangle
Group of community, business and organization leaders to decide how to proceed with under-developed section of Towson land.
If you drive on York Road, you likely drive right by the Towson Triangle—unless you're looking for a coffee, a donut or a slice of pizza.
Nestled between Towson University and downtown Towson, the Towson Triangle has been a Bermuda Triangle for development.
County Councilman David Marks appointed a 10-member committee to look into future development and other plans for the underdeveloped triangle, formed by York Road, Burke Avenue and Towsontown Boulevard.

“It occupies a central area between Towson University and the downtown core," Marks said in an email. "As developments are proposed, we need strong input from residential neighbors and those entities that already exist in the Triangle.”
Josh Glikin, vice president of the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations and a former president of the West Towson Neighborhood Association, will chair the committee. He was not immediately available for comment Thursday.

The triangle's current residents on York Road include , , , , and the American Legion. The legion leases spaces in its large lot to its neighbors.
Last year, reports surfaced that was interested in buying the American Legion's property to expand, but the legion was not interested in selling. The university's administration is not represented on the committee, though David Hinshaw, general manager of the , has a seat.
Earlier this year, DMS Development , including a former print shop, auto repair shop and a house. Future plans for those lots are unknown.
The committee's other members include current and former community leaders:
- Charlie Culbertson, Southland Hills resident and former president of United Seniors of Maryland
- Mike Ertel, West Towson resident and former president of the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations
- David Hinshaw, former president of the Towson Chamber of Commerce and manager of the Towson University Marriott Conference Hotel
- G.T. Keplinger, president of the Burkleigh Square Community Association
- David Kosak, president of the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations
- Therese McAllister, president of the Southland Hills Improvement Association
- Paul Moran, adjutant at Towson American Legion Post No. 22
- Nicole Nesbitt, former president of the Southland Hills Improvement Association
- Stephanie Keene, president of West Towson Neighborhood Association
