Medal Alert: Michael Phelps Wins Silver in 100-Meter Butterfly

Phelps tied for second after a hard-fought race Friday night during the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL — For the first time in the 2016 Olympics, Michael Phelps won a silver medal.

He tied for second in the 100-meter butterfly Friday night with Chad le Clos of South Africa and Laszlo Cseh of Hungary; all came in at the same time — 51:14 seconds.

Joseph Schooling of Singapore won the event, clocking in at 50:39 seconds.
