Michael Phelps Crowned Internet Royalty in 2016
The most decorated Olympian of all time has another honor to add to the list: One of the most searched people of 2016 on Google.

What do Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Michael Phelps have in common? All were the most looked-up people on Google in 2016, the search engine reported.
Olympic champion "Michael Phelps" was the third most searched individual, after the president-elect and the former secretary of state, according to Google.
Phelps, who grew up in Rodgers Forge, had a whirlwind year. In 2016 he won five gold medals at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, bringing his medal count to 23 gold and 28 overall; he married Nicole Johnson in two weddings; and he became a father to Boomer Phelps, born on Cinco de Mayo.

One of the top searches related to Phelps, according to Google, was "cupping," a technique that may help heal strained muscles through the use of suction, and resulted in circular bruises on his back during the Olympics.
After Phelps, Google said the most searched people of 2016 were Melania Trump, Simone Biles, Bernie Sanders, Steven Avery, Cรฉline Dion, Ryan Lochte and Tom Hiddleston.
