Michael Phelps: 'I Understand the Severity of My Actions'
The Olympic swimmer spoke out about his recent DUI on Twitter.

After word spread that the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time—Michael Phelps—had received a DUI Tuesday morning in Baltimore, the 29-year-old took to Twitter to express his regret.
“Earlier this morning, I was arrested and charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lanes,” Phelps tweeted Tuesday afternoon.
“I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility,” he said.

“I know these words may not mean much right now but I am deeply sorry to everyone I have let down,” Phelps added.
This was the second DUI for Phelps, whose last occurred a decade ago when he was underage—in 2004. In that case, he received probation before judgment.
