Michael Phelps Reveals He and Fiancee Are Pregnant

Michael Phelps and fiancee Nicole Johnson are more than 12 weeks pregnant with a baby boy, he announced via Instagram on Wednesday.

The couple discovered Johnson was pregnant roughly two months ago, Phelps said on Nov. 18.

The announcement about the couple’s expanding family comes approximately one week after a tell-all story about Phelps graced the cover of Sports Illustrated.

According to the article, Johnson and Phelps met when they were 22 years old and she was interning at ESPN, covering Phelps at the 2007 Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards, which the sports network sponsors. They ended up dating on and off through the years.

“We both had different relationships, but we never found anybody who understood each other the way we did,” Johnson told Sports Illustrated.

In February, they got engaged, and reportedly plan to marry after the 2016 Olympics.
