Mother Killed, Toddler Injured In Baltimore County Crash: Police

Baltimore County police are investigating the multiple-vehicle crash that happened early Friday morning.

MIDDLE RIVER, MD — Baltimore County police are investigating an early morning crash that killed a woman and injured her three-year-old son. According to police, multiple cars were involved in the crash that happened on Eastern Boulevard near White Marsh Boulevard.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. when a Honda Element traveling westbound sideswiped another vehicle traveling in the same direction. The Honda then veered across the grass median, before colliding head-on with the Toyota Corolla driven by 23-year-old Alexis Lashey Steele. Her son was a passenger in the vehicle.

According to police, the Honda also struck two additional vehicles before coming to a stop, causing minor injuries to the occupants of the vehicles.

Steele was transported to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where she later died. Her 3-year-old son, a passenger in the vehicle, was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Honda suffered life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. Baltimore County investigators are working to determine what led up to the crash, including whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
