New Speed Camera Arrives in Towson

Baltimore County police say six locations have new speed cameras, including one outside a Towson school.

Drivers, be advised: There are six new speed cameras at schools around Baltimore County.

For 30 days, there will be a warning period when drivers do not get tickets and instead receive warnings for exceeding the speed limit in these zones. After 30 days, violators will be cited and fined $40.

Cameras will be in operation from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, including weekdays when school is not in session and during the summer.

Those driving at least 12 mph over the posted speed limit are in violation and will be notified, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The cameras went into effect on Wednesday, Feb. 24, according to Corporal John Wachter, who said that they were cycled out from other schools.
