📰 News we're reading
• Baltimore County Council passes Marks' legislation to notify communities of warehouses (nottinghammd.com) — In Towson, the Baltimore County Council has unanimously passed Councilman David Marks' bill requiring developers of large warehouses to notify nearby communities, even when projects use limited exemptions. The measure also orders the Planning Board to review exemption rules and compare them with other jurisdictions. For Towson-area residents, this means more advance warning and input opportunities when sizable warehouse projects are proposed nearby.
• Community Outreach Spotlight: Badges for Bass — LEB (fbi.gov) — A Towson-based Baltimore County police sergeant is earning national recognition for his Badges for Bass youth program, which pairs local middle and high school students with officers for a day of fishing and boating. Started in 2024, the annual event now draws more than 50 students and aims to build trust, outdoor skills, and lasting connections between Towson-area youth and law enforcement.
• Baltimore County Man Charged With Attempted Murder in September Shooting (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Baltimore County police, based in Towson, have charged a 21-year-old man with attempted first-degree murder after a September shooting that wounded a 46-year-old in Pikesville. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit obtained a warrant days after the incident and arrested the suspect on Oct. 1. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, and investigators have not yet released a motive.
