Police Charge Naked Towson Burglary Suspect

A detail from the pizza shop's surveillance tape helped lead to charges in the Slice of Towson burglary case, Baltimore County police said.

TOWSON, MD — Surveillance tape helped lead to the identification of Towson's naked pizza burglar, police said.

Jonathan Karron Newman, 23, of the unit block of Parham Circle in Rosedale, has been charged with second-degree burglary and other offenses related to the Nov. 10 break-in at Slice of Towson, officials reported.

"The store owner recognized a car when he was looking at some surveillance video," Cpl. John Wachter told Patch on Monday. "When detectives looked into the car, they came up with the suspect."

The burglary in the unit block of West Pennsylvania Avenue happened at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, when officials said the suspect entered the restaurant through a roof vent.

Once inside, the burglary suspect was seen on surveillance video removing his clothes and damaging restaurant property before taking money from the registers and running away, according to police.

After the crime occurred, Slice offered a reward of free pizza for life to anyone who could identify the naked burglar. The business announced the offer on its Facebook page, where it has also dubbed itself "Slice — Home of the Naked Burglar" in its cover photo.

Newman was arrested Saturday and released on $50,000 bail, police told WBAL, which reported Slice is now planning to offer free pizza to police during the month of December in a show of gratitude.
