Police To Ramp Up Visibility In Towson For Tigerfest 2019
Towson will see a boost in police presence this weekend, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

TOWSON, MD — Tigerfest is this weekend in Towson. In advance, the Baltimore County Police Department announced plans for ramping up patrols in the area.
Tigerfest is an annual event held the second week in April that celebrates Towson University culture. It includes festivities from Monday, April 8, through Sunday, April 14.
Some highlights are the Tigerfest concert at SECU Arena from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, April 12, which will feature Playboi Carti and Rico Nasty, and the Tigerfest Outdoor Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, at lot 26. There's a community cleanup on Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. called "The Big Event," which starts and ends at the arena.

Multiple sporting events are also expected to draw crowds this weekend for Tigerfest: women's lacrosse game Friday at 7 p.m. vs. Elon, men's lacrosse Saturday at noon vs. UMass, softball doubleheader Saturday at noon and 2 p.m. vs. UNC Wilmington, women's lacrosse at 1 p.m. Sunday vs. UNC Wilmington and softball at 1 p.m. Sunday vs. Charleston.
Expect Increased Police Presence
Officials say special visible enforcement patrols will be posted around these areas on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13:

- Berkshires at Town Center in the 200 block of East Joppa Road
- Cardiff Hall Apartments in the 8000 block of York Road
- Donnybrook Apartments in the 7900 block of Knollwood Road
- The Colony and other apartment complexes on Kenilworth Avenue
To allow for the extra law enforcement presence, Towson University has provided supplemental funds to the Baltimore County Police Department.
"The Towson Precinct will have officers stationed throughout the weekend, with fully staffed support units assisting officers with the festival," the Baltimore County Police Department said in a statement. "Added patrols will be in the Donnybrook area at bar closing time to ensure a smooth transition of pedestrian traffic and minimal impact on the citizens of the Towson community."
Police issued this guidance: "Officers will patrol affected neighborhoods to address any disorderly and illegal behavior. Baltimore County Police remind everyone to drink responsibly, make good choices regarding personal safety and respect neighbors who are not participating in the festivities."
