Police Seek Info on Morgan State Student's Death

Gerald Williams, 20, was killed off campus earlier this week, police report.

BALTIMORE, MD – A Morgan State University student was stabbed to death earlier this week after a dispute that reportedly involved a basketball game, and police continue asking for information about the case.

Gerald Williams, 20, was stabbed in the groin in the 1500 block of Pentridge Avenue Monday night, according to police.

Officers said they found Williams at 9:46 p.m. and paramedics took him to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where soon after he was declared deceased.

Police reported the fatal blow occurred after an altercation with a group of men escalated and one of them stabbed Williams with a knife.

The confrontation began at a school basketball game, according to WJZ. In a battle of Baltimore rivals, the Morgan State Bears claimed victory Monday night over the Coppin State Eagles, 83-43.

The stabbing occurred at Morgan View apartments, an off-campus housing complex, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Morgan State President David Wilson said in a letter to the community that Baltimore Police was handling the investigation, since the incident occurred off campus.

This is the second stabbing at the Morgan State University in the past year. Last year, there was a stabbing involving several football players. As a result of that, the school began offering conflict resolution, a course that WJZ reports is now mandatory for every student at Morgan State.
