Road Closures To Impact Baltimore County Through October

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Starting this weekend, roadway improvement projects will bring closures to portions of Interstates 695 and 70 over the next several weeks.

The first of two projects kicks off Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., impacting the I-695 inner and outer loop bridges over Morse Lane and the Norfolk Southern railroad line.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration said in a release that there will be single left lane closures at Morse Lane and the railroad line for bridge painting work.

In addition to the upcoming Saturday, the closure will be in place for Oct. 3 and Oct. 10. In the event of inclement weather, the department said the work would be pushed back to the next possible Saturday.

The second MDTSHA project will see temporary lane shifts and closures along the eastbound I-70 local lanes, from east of the Baltimore Beltway to the Baltimore City/County line near the Park and Ride in Baltimore City.

Crews are expected to begin the work Sunday around 8 p.m. and continue through mid-October, at which time workers will be removing concrete segments and resurfacing parts of the roadway.

Officials said the concrete work will run for a week, and that paving work will require lane shifts and closures Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Possible makeup days were not detailed by the agency.

The department is urging drivers to be cautious and mindful of all posted traffic signs and cones along the work area.
