Schools Without AC Closed Friday in Baltimore County
For the fourth day this school year, heat will close the 36 Baltimore County Public Schools without air-conditioning.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Schools without air-conditioning in Baltimore County will be closed Friday.
"Due to the forecast, all BCPS non air-conditioned schools will be closed Friday, September 9," Baltimore County Public Schools announced Thursday, when the 36 schools without air-conditioning were also closed.
Classes and after-school activities will be canceled at non air-conditioned schools on Friday.

The Baltimore County Board of Education voted last month to close schools without air-conditioning if the temperature was to reach 90 degrees on the heat index by 11 a.m.
Friday's forecast calls for a temperature of 92 degrees on the heat index by 11 a.m., rising to 98 degrees between 2 and 3 p.m. in Towson, according to the National Weather Service.

This is the fourth day that Baltimore County students in un-air-conditioned schools will have missed due to heat; their schools were also closed Thursday, Sept. 8; Monday, Aug. 29; and Friday, Aug. 26.
Friday is to mark the 12th day of school for students in Baltimore County, who returned on Wednesday, Aug. 24, and had off for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 5.
