Clerk Fatally Shot Towson Liquor Store Robber: Police

One suspect is dead after failed robbery attempt at Towson Wine and Spirits, Baltimore County police say.

A would-be robber at a downtown Towson liquor store was shot and killed after announcing a holdup Monday evening, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. A second suspect is at large, police said.

The robbery occurred before 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, in the unit block of Pennsylvania Avenue, according to police.

Two people went into Towson Wine and Spirits, one suspect showed a handgun, and they announced a robbery, police reported.

The 68-year-old liquor store clerk produced his own gun and shot one of the suspects multiple times in the upper body, according to the report.

Both suspects ran away, but one collapsed a short distance from the business and was declared deceased at the scene, the report said. Police have not released the identity of the suspect.

As of 9:55 p.m., police said the second suspect remained at large.

There has been a shooting reported in Towson, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The shooting was reported at Towson Commons, said police, who were responding after 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said the area of York Road at Pennsylvania Avenue was being cordoned off.

According to WJZ, the shooting was the result of a robbery gone awry at Towson Wine and Spirits.
