Loch Raven High School Student Arrested, Pellet Gun Found: Police
Police said Loch Raven High School was on lockdown for less than an hour as tactical officers searched for a weapon on campus.
TOWSON, MD — Police said a 14-year-old boy was arrested Thursday at Loch Raven High School after he ran from an officer investigating a report of a gun. Another student had alerted the officer that the boy had a gun in his backpack, according to officials.
Around 11:47 a.m., police said the officer approached the student, who ran to another part of the school.
Loch Raven High School went into lockdown so that authorities could search for the boy, and the officer issued a call-out for a possible search for a person with a gun on campus.

At 12:30 p.m., the lockdown was lifted. Nobody was injured, according to police.
Police activity prompted road closures in the area of the school and also put Concordia Preparatory School on lockdown as well, according to WBAL. That school is 0.4 mile away.
Parents who wanted to pick up their children were able to do so at The Big Screen Store, 1125 Cromwell Bridge Road. The public, including parents, was asked to avoid Loch Raven High School as police work to clear the scene.
Police said Thursday afternoon that classes would resume as usual on Friday, Feb. 16.
Thursday's incident at Loch Raven comes the day after 17 people were killed in a high school shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said that there have been multiple "copycat" threats after the Valentine's Day massacre at the high school in the southeastern Florida town, according to ABC News.
In May 2017, a Loch Raven student posted pictures of himself with a gun online that prompted a robo call to families and a search of his home.
