Tent Collapse At MD State Fairgrounds: 1 Injured, Officials Say

TIMONIUM, MD — One person was hospitalized as the result of a tent collapsing on horses at the Maryland State Fairgrounds Monday in Timonium, according to authorities.

High winds caused at least one tent to collapse at the fairgrounds in the 2200 block of York Road around 11:10 a.m., the Baltimore County Fire Department reported.

One person was taken for medical attention from scene, according to the fire department. That individual suffered injuries described as minor.

All horses were accounted for and safe, officials said before noon. The fairgrounds is set to host the Standardbred Horse Sale Tuesday to Saturday.

A wind advisory is in effect for Baltimore County and the region until 2 p.m. Monday due to strong winds that may gust up to 50 mph. During the wind advisory period, people should secure any loose objects that may be hazardous, such as decorations. Tree limbs may blow down and power outages are possible.

More than 5,400 BGE customers were without power in Baltimore County after 12:30 p.m., according to the utility company.
