Towson Church Property To House School

A Christian school with more than 120 students is moving to the Towson area.

TOWSON, MD — The Cambridge School announced that it has purchased the site formerly known as the Brown Memorial Woodbrook campus on Charles Street. The property at 6200 North Charles Street is 7 acres that Cambridge School officials say will fit well with with their school's focus on wonder and imagination as part of the learning process.

"We are absolutely delighted to have purchased this new campus for Cambridge, a school that has served all six of my children over its 20 years," Chair of the Cambridge School Board of Trustees David Kelly said in a statement. "This property will improve immensely the school’s capacity to fulfill its mission and vision for years to come."

Cambridge School has approximately 120 students from kindergarten through eighth grade.

It celebrated its 20th anniversary in fall 2017 and had been looking to move from its location on Sudbrook Lane near Pikesville. In its new location in the heart of Baltimore County, the Christian-based school will be in a better position to serve students from both Baltimore County and Baltimore City, school officials said.

"Everything that Cambridge does and stands for can happen more effectively at the new campus," Head of School Dr. John Blumenstein said in a statement.

"We have already received a warm welcome from neighbors who are excited to see the property owned by an institution that inspires hearts and minds to embrace the good, the beautiful, and the true," Blumenstein said.

Brown Memorial Woodbrook, which merged with Govans Presbyterian, used to be the owner of the property.

The plan for Cambridge School is to move to 6200 North Charles Street in the next year.
