Towson Included in Flash Flood Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch, effective from Saturday night to Sunday morning, for much of Maryland, including Baltimore County.

The watch lasts from 8 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday for the following areas: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. The District of Columbia and parts of Virginia are also included.

A flash flood watch means that conditions could lead to a sudden, violent flood.

Showers and thunderstorms will sweep through the region from west to east late Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday morning, according to the weather service.

Approximately 1 to 3 inches of rain may fall during the watch period.

Storms may include torrential downpours with rain falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, causing rapid rising of creeks and streams, according to the weather service.
