Towson Magnet School Earns National Award for Excellence
Four schools in Baltimore County were recognized by the Magnet Schools of America.
Cromwell Valley Elementary was one of four Baltimore County Public Schools that has received national recognition for its magnet program.
Magnet Schools of America recently designated Cromwell Valley Elementary Regional Magnet School of Technology as a "School of Excellence," according to a statement from Baltimore County Public Schools.
The elementary school on Providence Road focuses on using technology, data-based research and hands-on instruction in educating its students.
Magnet School of Merit Awards recognize member magnet schools or programs that demonstrate a high commitment to academic standards, curriculum innovation, desegregation and diversity efforts, specialized teaching staffs and parent and community involvement, according to Baltimore County Public Schools.
The "School of Excellence" distinction is the highest honor from the Magnet Schools of America.
In addition to Cromwell, Dundalk's Patapsco High Center for the Arts was designated as a "School of Excellence," Baltimore County Public Schools said.
Halstead Academy of Parkville and the Lutherville Laboratory were named "Schools of Distinction."
More than 300 schools applied for recognition, according to Baltimore County Public Schools.
