Towson University Students Walk Out in Post-Election Protest
Students and faculty at Towson University rallied in Freedom Square after 2016 election.

TOWSON, MD — Students and faculty at Towson University Monday staged a walkout in protest of the 2016 presidential election. At noon, dozens of Towson affiliates met at Freedom Square on campus for a peace rally.
"It is our duty to fight for our freedom," they chanted. "It is our duty to win."

The walkout was organized by the Social Justice Collective, according to Towson student newspaper The Towerlight. Campus police allegedly removed one person due to a scuffle at the protest.
Also on Monday, students in Silver Spring walked out of Montgomery Blair High School and gathered at the mall in Wheaton.

Thousands of Americans disappointed with the results of the 2016 presidential election have protested in the past week in cities around the nation, including Baltimore, New York, Detroit, Boston, Miami and Washington, D.C.
