Rosemond Gerard was a French poet born 1871-1953 and she was the granddaughter of the French Prime Minister. She wrote the following which has been used now in lots of wedding ceremonies as a love message. “ For you see, each day I love you more, today more than yesterday, and less than tomorrow.”
If you analyze the wording, you at first think what does less than tomorrow mean? I take it to mean after carefully rereading it several times, as today I love you a lot, but tomorrow I will love you more than today.
If I am correct, it is a lovely wedding saying and also an everyday saying for all of us on who we love and how much we love them.

We were visiting our younger grandchildren on Saturday out of town. The trip is long for persons with bad Arthritic knees. However, even as a holiday weekend, the traffic was more normal and still hectic, but tolerable when the ending of the trip is the beginning of a delightful visit with the kids and their parents.
I have trouble now hopefully, temporarily getting out of some low seated chairs and I did go to start to eat dinner and I sat unexpectedly in a lower seated chair, at least for me it was. I plopped down into it not realizing it was a bit low and my thought was how I will be able to raise myself out of it when I am finished dinner. I started to tear up because it is not a feeling of grandness, when you cannot get out yourself of this piece of furniture.

Little eight year old grandson Ethan, a gorgeous faced child (not because I am his Grammie saying this) walked over to me and gently said “Grammie do not cry, I do not like anyone to cry.”
This child (I say so also being the recipient of a major in psychology with enough credits to know I speak intelligently on this) is way beyond his eight years in compassion, caring and competence, not only in his school studies, but in his thoughts of a person in distress. Other kids might ignore my tears or not care to discuss or think about it, he is onto it immediately with a consoling few words to his grandmother. He shows this often and when he was in kindergarten, he showed this compassion to a fellow student when he cried on the first day of school. Ethan went to get a few tissues to give to the child and to console him that everything would be fine. The teacher told my daughter-in-law about this after school and said she never had seen such a youngster caring so much about another child/person and this was when he was five.
So as Rosemond Gerard said that I love you more than yesterday and less than tomorrow, so do I, the doting Grammie about Ethan. How can I really relate to that because my love for him today could not be one iota more tomorrow? The love is as high as the sky and even beyond and to the highest heights there are for me to see and believe in.
Today I am thankful to have him, his parents and his sister Ava who in herself is a younger version of him. She tried to get my thoughts off of the low chair and trying later to get out of it by saying “Grammie this is the first time you are eating with us down in the family room, dinner.” She was remarking on the dining downstairs because it was hard for me at this time to walk up to the second floor where we usually dine with them. In her own intelligent way, this beauty of a female little six year old was diverting my worry feelings to one of a new pleasure; doing something new in dining with them in a different atmosphere.
Bravo to caring little ones and to me being the recipient of their consideration and concern for their senior grandparent. My love has no boundaries for them.Today, yesterday and tomorrow, it is there forever.
