Woman Pleads Guilty in Death of Goucher Lacrosse Player

Kayla Wiseman, 24, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and one count of felony hit-and-run in the 2014 death of Matthew Gabriel.

A Towson University student who killed a former Goucher College lacrosse player when she struck him with her car while driving drunk last year has received a six-month sentence, according to the Associated Press.

The Baltimore Sun first reported 24-year-old Kayla Wiseman pleaded guilty last week to driving under the influence as well as one count of felony hit-and-run in the death of 19-year-old Matthew Gabriel in April of 2014.

Gabriel was hit by a car as he crossed Dulaney Valley Road in Towson, Patch reported at the time. Police added Gabriel was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

Wiseman fled the scene upon striking Gabriel with her vehicle and was later identified by police.

The AP reported Wiseman was sentenced to three years, with all but six months suspended, followed by three years of supervised probation.
