UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Two Upper Marlboro men were sentenced to federal prison for the armed robbery of a cell phone store in Hyattsville in April 2016, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Terry Terrell Clipper, 27, was sentenced to nine years, and his cousin, Andre Denan Sanders, 28, was sentenced to seven years.

On April 7, 2016, Clipper and Sanders entered the T-Mobile store at 3601 East West Highway. Clipper brandished a firearm, pointed it at store employees and demanded cell phones, prosecutors said. Both the men forced the employees to a stockroom in the rear of the store and Sanders locked the store entrance.

Clipper and Sanders fled the scene with about $16,900 worth of cell phones, tablets and watches, prosecutors said. One of the electronic devices stolen by the men contained a GPS device which alerted officers that the men were traveling in the vicinity of Jefferson Street and 42nd Avenue in Hyattsville after the robbery.

Officers responded to the area and located the men. After a brief foot chase, the men were taken into custody. Officers recovered the stolen electronics, as well as multiple telephones, tables, watches, and a loaded .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in their car, prosecutors said.
