County: Park in Driveways, Even-Numbered Sides of Streets to Help Snowplows
Prince George's County residents are asked to park in their driveways and stay off the roads as crews tackle snow-removal.
With the possibility of 6 to 12 inches of snow predicted for the area, Prince Georgeβs County will deploy crews beginningΒ WednesdayΒ evening for a full snow removal operation, according to a news release.
βEmployees from the Department of Public Works and Transportation, the Department of Environmental Resources, Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement, and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission will be deployed to monitor, plow and treat the roadways,β said DPW&T Acting Director Darrell Mobley.Β βCounty roadways have been pre-treated in preparation for the snow storm.Β The crews will concentrate on the primary and major collector roadways first, and then will move into the residential areas to plow the roads.β
The roads may become slippery from the snow and sleet, and travel may be dangerousΒ WednesdayΒ night andΒ ThursdayΒ morning.Β Drivers are encouraged to avoid traveling.

County residents are asked to park on the even-numbered sides of residential streets or in their driveways to assist the crews in clearing the roadways.Β Residents are also reminded to shovel their driveways after plowing has occurred and to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks abutting their homes and businesses.Β
To report roadway conditions, residents are encouraged to wait 12 hours after the precipitation has stopped before calling CountyClick at 3-1-1, the Snow Information Center atΒ 301-350-0500Β or going to theΒ Snow Request FormΒ on the Countyβs website atΒ www.princegeorgescountymd.govΒ .
