Officer Charged With Punching Son's Mother Suspended
A Prince George's County Police officer charged with assaulting the mother of his son at an Upper Marlboro home has lost his police powers.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD — Prince George's County Police Officer Bashua Olaseha was suspended Saturday after he was charged with assaulting the mother of his child, officials said.
Olaseha was arrested on two counts of second-degree assault on Friday by fellow Prince George’s police officers after a domestic disturbance on Rose View Court in Upper Marlboro. Olaseha, 28k was off-duty at the time, police say.
According to charging documents, Yetunde Ogungbemi -- who obtained a protective order against Olaseha the day before -- told police that Olaseha tried to take their 7-month-old son without permission.

Olaseha allegedly removed the boy from the Upper Marlboro house, placed him in the front passenger seat and tried to drive away. The child’s mother said she tried to grab the boy from the moving vehicle, and was punched in the stomach and slapped across the face by Olaseha, WTOP reports.
The victim was treated at a hospital for cuts and bruises and released.

Olaseha has been with the department for three years. He is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, District III. His police powers have been suspended. The Special Investigation Response Team is leading the investigation.
