📰 News we're reading

• Overcrowded PG Shelter Posts 17 Dogs at Risk of Euthanasia (southernmarylandchronicle.com) — Prince George's County's animal shelter on Brown Station Road in Upper Marlboro remains packed beyond its roughly 170 kennels, and officials warn healthy dogs could be euthanized for lack of space. Residents can search adoptable dogs online, then visit the shelter with an application, ID, and leash during posted walk-in hours. Those unable to adopt can still foster, volunteer, or work with approved rescues to ease the strain.

• MEDIA ADVISORY: Moore-Miller Administration to Celebrate Opening of Veterans Benefits Office in Prince George's County (maryland.gov) — A new veterans benefits office is opening inside the MVA's Largo Branch on Central Avenue in Upper Marlboro, giving local veterans and families in-person help with accessing earned benefits. The ribbon-cutting is set for Tuesday, Oct. 13, as part of a statewide effort to co-locate services. Once open, the office should make it easier for Prince George's County veterans to get one-stop assistance close to home.
