The deputy, whose radar clocked the vehicle's triple-digit speed in the area of Route 31 at Medford Road, turned around to try to catch up to the driver when he saw the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, officials said.
Based on the preliminary investigation, authorities said the suspect vehicle was headed east on Route 31 and had passed another vehicle that was going the same direction when the suspect vehicle clipped a gray Infiniti traveling west.
The Infiniti went into an embankment, causing minor damage, and the two people inside were not injured, officials said.

All lanes of Route 31 were closed for investigation into the crash.
Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
