Board of Education to Reveal New Logo at Aug. 8 Meeting

The will unveil the new school system logo during its meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the Charles I. Ecker Boardroom at the Board of Education offices, located at 125 North Court Street in Westminster.

According to a news release, the origin of the new logo dates back to December 2011 when the Board of Education adopted a new core statement, values, and beliefs.  The ideas reflected in these guiding statements were largely based on input from the school community and the greater Carroll County community. With these new documents, it was the perfect time to develop a new logo – one that would accurately depict the new core statement.

The concept for the new logo was developed by Beth Sheedy, a 2012 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School. Her submission in a student art contest best represented the new Core Statement: Carroll County Public Schools – Building the Future. 

In addition to unveiling the new logo, the Board also will be retiring the “schoolhouse” logo that has been used to represent the school system for the past 30 years, according to a news release. This logo was developed by Cathy Frock when she was a drafting student at what is now the Carroll County Career and Technology Center.

Both Beth Sheedy and Cathy Frock will take part in the presentation and will be recognized by the Board for their outstanding designs.
