Blog: 'The Walk'- A Success on Many Fronts

Even with the threat of rain Saturday, a dedicated cadre of walkers came out to support "The Walk," an event sponsored by the Greater Carroll Lions Club in support of .

Joined by the gold lion mascot, the crowd ranging in age from two years to sixty something walked a designated path through parks and neighborhoods of Westminster to show their support of two worthy organizations.

It's events like these that make me proud to be part of a community that appreciates the good work administered through civic organizations and non profits to help those who are less fortunate.

This particular event was one that enlisted local businesses who provided sponsorship dollars that will ultimately be used to assist each organization with their mission of helping people.

As a Community Action Agency, we value the relationships we have with not only our local business community, but also our civic partners who understand the benefit of working together to achieve a common goal.

It's not always about the financial gain when these types of collaborations are formed. It's much more about the raising of awareness and partnership. These are the type of results that transcend beyond the dollars to support specific programs or projects.

All that said, "The Walk" was a success for all these reasons and many more. We thank our partner, the Greater Carroll Lions Club for their support and look forward to future events whereby we can help each other make positive changes in our community.
