Buy Local, Eat Local: Downtown Westminster Farmers' Market
Downtown Westminster's Farmers' Market, the oldest producer-only market, opens this Saturday!

Buy Local. Eat Local. In Downtown Westminster, it’s more than a slogan – it’s a way of life! In many ways, supporting local businesses is what drives the local economy. We can see immediate effects when people buy at small businesses rather than online or nonlocal, big box chains. You too can become part of this local movement by attending the Downtown Westminster Farmers’ Market, which opens this Saturday.
The Market is “producer only,” which requires all products to be grown by the farm, or handmade by the person hosting each booth. It is located on the Conaway parking lot on Route 27 by Emerald Hill Lane and will now be open on Tuesday afternoons from 3 to 6pm and Saturday mornings from 8am to noon. The market features new and returning producers, selling fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, eggs, meats, plants and more!
This year’s market will also feature many new offerings every month, including live entertainment, cooking demonstrations and activities for the kids. We will also feature a “Producer of the Week” to introduce visitors to the incredible, local
producers we have at the Market.

This week’s featured Producer is Thorne Farm, a Westminster farm established in 1992. The family-owned and operated farm is committed to providing local food and local fiber, and uses no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or genetically modified seed. It also offers long wool sheep, fleeces, sheepskins, eggs, heirloom vegetable plants, flowers and vegetables like hot and sweet peppers, .This week, the Farm will be selling plants, eggs, yarn and wool at the Market.
Come to the market to support a local business. As an added bonus, you can actually speak to the farmer himself, who can tell you a bit about his farm,
growing methods and his way of life right here in Carroll County.
