Partnership for Healthier Carroll County

The Partnership for Healthier Carroll County is an active community collaboration to improve the health of Carroll County.

Did you know that since the 1999, a partnership of area businesses, public agencies and concerned citizens have been watching out for the health of Carroll County?  That's right all this time this dedicated group has had their finger on the pulse of Carroll County and have worked together to improve the health of our citizens.

The partnership originally was formed with Carroll Hospital Center and Carroll County Health Department to perform a health assessment of Carroll County.  It started with a 40 person steering committee and since then has grown to hundreds of individuals that serve on leadership teams and action teams.  Through health assessments, core indicators are identified and action teams assigned.

There are ten core improvement areas:  Prevention and Wellness, Access to health care, cancer, elderhealth, growth, interpersonal violence, mental health, positive youth and family development, substance abuse and water.  Each of these core improvement areas are tracked via Healthy Carroll Vital Signs.

Over the past ten years there have been many success stories.  New community resources have been empowered by the partnership including Caring Carroll, SKIT (Seniors Keep in Touch), Access Carroll, Mentoring Connections and many more.

A three times per year newsletter "Healthy Carroll Families" is distributed to thousands of residents via email and available to print and distribute throughout the county.  The newsletter can be found at http://www.healthycarroll.org/08_2011/HealthyCarrollFamilies_Sept-2011.pdf
