Carroll Community College and Random House Search for Young Writers

Carroll County students in grades one through 12 are encouraged to submit short stories and poems.

Know any aspiring young writers? Here's a shot for him or her to get published and share their work.

Carroll County students in first through twelfth grades are encouraged to enter a previously unpublished short stories and poems in the Annual Random House Book Fair Student Writing Contest.

The Annual Random House Book Fair, to benefit the Carroll Community College Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2012. Kick-off events will be held the evening of Friday, March 2, 2012.

The Student Writing Contest deadline is Friday, Nov. 18. Entries and cover sheets signed by student authors should be postmarked by Nov. 18, or may be delivered in person to the Carroll Community College Foundation office, Room M261, 1601 Washington Rd.

All finalists will be published in a 2012 student writing contest booklet that will be printed by Random House. Finalists will be notified in January 2012.

Each winning author will have the opportunity to read an excerpt of his or her work on the day of the Annual Random House Book Fair on March 3, 2012.
