Bargains Galore at Carroll Lutheran School's 9th Annual Consignment Sale
Hundreds of Carroll Countians expected to attend the annual consignment sale fundraiser on Feb. 12.

It doesn't have to be spring to do some spring cleaning. It's time to clean out those drawers and kids bins and get involved with one of Carroll County's largest consignment sales.
For the past 9 years, the Carroll Lutheran School has hosted a consignment sale as one of its primary fundraisers. The sale has proven to be one of the most successful fundraisers and the school is hoping that the sale will thrive yet again this year.
The sale will be held at the Carroll County Agricultural Center on Saturday Feb. 12 from 7 a.m. until 12 p.m. The sale will continue from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. where everything that was not sold or picked up will be sold at half price.

Children’s clothing, from infant through size twelve, baby items, games, books, maternity clothes, and sporting equipment are all among the items to be sold.
“All of the money raised goes directly to improving our school,” says Amy Louque, who is currently involved in her 4th year with the sale. “It has allowed our Family Partnership Program to purchase such things as laptop computers for our students, having the mobile Science lab come to our school for a week, and new school equipment to name a few.”

The sale typically draws in around 500 people and on average $10,000 for Carroll Lutheran School. Louque shared that it is not uncommon to have 150-200 people waiting for the doors to open around 7 a.m.
She said there are still many ways for Westminster residents to get involved. One great way to help is to come out and shop. Another way to help is to become a consigner for the event, which is easy to do.
Currently, there are a little over 190 consigners for the event but in years past, they average around 200-225 consigners.
Anyone can be a consigner for the fundraiser. The consigners will receive 60 percent of the profits made from their sold items and Carroll Lutheran School will receive the remaining 40 percent.
Consigners will have the opportunity to pick up their unsold items between the hours of 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. before their items will be sold at half price. If the items are sold half-off, Carroll Lutheran School will receive all the profits.
If you’re interested in becoming a consigner, you must first register on the the school's website. You can then pick up an informative packet at Carroll Lutheran School between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Carroll Lutheran School is also looking for volunteers. They need help setting up the event, organizing the items they receive, working the event, as well as breaking it down. They have a variety of volunteer opportunities available and anyone can help, even if you are already involved as a consigner.
“This sale is one of the biggest fundraisers our school has each year,” says Louque, “we encourage all community members to help.”
