Central Maryland Attitude Scores Big in Orlando, Earns Runner Up Title in National Championships

The Central Maryland Attitude fourth grade girls basketball team made it to the championship game Saturday.

The Central Maryland Attitude 4th Grade Black team competed in the Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) Nationals in Orlando last week and came home with the runner up title.  

The girls were 3-1 in pool play by beating Puerto Rico 40-13, Tennessee 32-26 and North Carolina 29-7.  Their only loss was to Georgia, 30-27.  

The girls were the second seed going into the bracket championship. They beat Tennessee again 24-18 in the semi-finals and then faced Georgia in the National Championship.

Coach Joe McAleer said of the championship game, "The girls played very hard and had incredible sportsmanship, but the 11-0 start was too much for them to overcome as they lost 29-17." 

The girls also won the Team Academic Award, second place in 3-point shooting, second place in team shooting and first place in hot shot shooting contest.

Team members on the Central Maryland Attitude roster: Josey Klingenberg, Emily Beck, Erin Snyder, Molly McAleer, Aleah Nelson, Devan Conrad, Ava Wax, Regan Miller, Kolby Brown, Zoe Costley, Gabrielle Manning, Ryann Yospa. The coaches are Joe McAleer, Matt Brown, Pat Conrad, Denny Snyder and Scott Nelson.
