CLV Approved as Stephen Ministry Organization

Stephen Ministers to be Trained in September

Carroll Lutheran Village has been approved as a Stephen Ministry organization. Stephen Ministry equips lay people within a community to provide one-to-one emotional and spiritual care to people who are experiencing difficulty in their lives such as the loss of a loved one, a terminal or chronic illness, hospitalization or another life challenge. The process is confidential. The identity of those receiving care and everything they discuss with their Stephen Minister remains private.

“A pastor is typically the first to offer spiritual care, especially during a crisis,” said Deacon Don Myers, Associate Chaplain at Carroll Lutheran Village. “A Stephen Minister extends the spiritual care that a pastor can provide, especially when ongoing support is needed.”

The first classes for Stephen Ministers will be held at the Village in September 2018 under the direction of Deacon Myers. Interested residents will receive training in providing high-quality, distinctively Christian care.
